South Church Ministry: Friendly Kitchen 2007 We are a congregation committed to service.

The South Church ministry with the Friendly Kitchen enjoyed a joyful success in 2007. The cooks and “crews” served up meals on 12 first Saturday evenings, plus an occasional one or two secured through a “bid” for 5th days of any month. Also once again, the team of Santa Jim, Mrs.Santa Ginny and the elf crew of the Trice family spent a Christmas lunch at the Friendly Kitchen. Many South members contributed gifts of various sizes and clothing items and our annual wrap session was held.

In total about 50 happy, gleeful, and unabashedly joyful Southies welcomed and served the meals. On average about 75 meals are served nightly so South fed close to a thousand meals. Many of the guests at FK are also guests of the winter homeless shelter. We are ever mindful of the scripture “when did I not feed or cloth you …”

The crews served up an assortment of menus, but always served up was joy and care.

The ministry always welcomes new additions to the crew pool. Individual “training sessions” can be provided on site. The South pool is orchestrated through our e-mail communication system. If interested please contact Jim Kinhan and Ginny Mierins at 225-5102 or at Jim Kinhan.
