Contribute Your Time And Talents

The gift of one's time and talents is invaluable, and South Church depends on its volunteers to keep our programs running. But your commitment need not be long-term: there are many opportunities, from helping with one-time short-term projects to sitting on boards and committees.

COMMITTEES: We elect committee members annually at church meeting, but sometimes need to replace a member who has resigned. If you have an interest in serving on a committee and would like further information, please contact Diana Powers or Mae Murdoch by clicking the email link or at the church office.

HOMELESS SHELTER: South Church provides shelter for Concord area homeless in conjunction with First Congregational Church. South serves both as an overnight shelter, providing beds and warmth, and also during the day as a respite from the cold through our open sanctuary program. Volunteers receive training in this remarkable mission, and serve as overnight chaperones in the shelter. To sign up and volunteer, please contact Diana Powers or Mae Murdoch by clicking the email link or at the church office.

MISSIONS: Watch the Open Door and News from the Pews on this website or in the mail for news of mission opportunities, as well as the Mission page of this website.

TALENTS: Much of the day to day work of the church is done by volunteers who contribute their talents. If you'd like to teach Sunday School, serve the homeless, help with social occasions, or otherwise put your talents to use, contact Diana Powers by email or at the Church office. Diana is our Coodinator of Volunteers and very adept at helping folks connect with an opportunity to put their talents to work!

FRIENDLY KITCHEN: we serve fresh cooked meals at the Concord Friendly Kitchen throughout the year. You can help in the kitchen or as a counter server! More information

TEMPLE CHILDCARE: Over the past fifteen years, South Church and Temple Beth Jacob have had a reciprocal agreement to assist one another with childcare during each congregations' high holy days. South Church will be offering child care at the Temple during Rosh Hashanah (September 30) and Yom Kippur (October 9). Look for a sign-up sheet on Sunday if you are interested in helping out.

CROP WALK CROP – Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty. CROP gives people like us a way to support the work of CWS while it brings people together in walks all across our country! If you'd like to learn more about the many ways that Church World Service makes a difference in the lives of millions of people, take a look at or their web site, and our bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall in the fall. Concord holds a CROP walk annually in October. South Church walkers have won the Golden Sneaker the past several years, given to the group that raises the most money for CROP.
