 This year the Junior High Youth Group is exploring ways we can make a difference. We've already begun to answer that in more ways than we imagined. We made homemade pizza and learned that when we pray, many of us think of our families, our friends and the church. At the Crop Walk, we learned how easy it is to walk five miles and raise money for the hungry when we do it as a group. We volunteered at the auction and saw the church raise an awe-inspiring $23,000 and made new friends and reconnected with old ones during an afternoon of bowling. The last few months have proven that everyone of us can make a difference – even when we are having a blast. We're not sure who had more fun Christmas caroling at a Concord retirement home – us or the residents. And our hearts were both heavy and joyful as we Christmas shopped at Target for kids who have so much less than we do. Before we parted ways that day, we named those kids in our prayers. In 2008 we'll continue our adventures and find yet more way to make a difference in our lives and the lives of others. Won't you join us? We meet two Sundays a month for about two hours each time. Rev. Carlos is helping lead the group for his second year, and he's joined by the husband and wife team of Will Delker and Annmarie Timmins. |
