Our Committment to Worship

Worship is the central shared experience of our church life. We have two Sunday morning services-an 8:00 am service in the chapel, and a 10:00 am service in the sanctuary with an average attendance of about 230 adults and children. Excellence in preaching and music is a hallmark of South Church, and the sacraments of communion and baptism are administered on a regular basis. Special seasonal observances such as the Easter Vigil and the Christmas Eve services are important expressions of me faith of the congregation.

The Sunday School program for nursery through eighth grade meets during the 10:00 service, with children usually joining their parents in worship before going to their classes. South Church recognizes that individuals proceed by their own paths in their faith journeys, and efforts are made to provide opportunities to explore the meanings of our faith through Bible studies, retreats and other activities in addition to morning worship. We encourage our members to recognize their own gifts and to use them in ministry within the church and in the greater community.
